4 Easy Ways To Get More Social Media Shares

What good is an amazing, informative, jaw-dropping blog post if almost nobody knows it exists?

Website hits and what we call "viral" blog posts are all reliant on one key factor: lots of sharing.

That's what social media is all about anyway, right? Sharing is important to the success of anyone on social media. It is, after all, called SOCIAL media.

So, how do you get your customers and your followers to share your content on their own social media accounts?

You have to make it easy for them.

If you're wanting to get your content shared by more people on social media, then follow these four easy steps!

Add Social Share Buttons

Do you have social sharing buttons that are integrated into your website? You know, those social media buttons that let you share an interesting article or blog post to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and others?

Adding social share buttons are key to making it easier for your visitors to share your content. Instead of copying your blog post URL, logging into their social media account, and pasting that URL into a post, social sharing buttons let customers simply click a button, type a caption, and post! In most cases, you can even see a preview of how your post will show up on your selection social site to make sure none of the meta information looks wonky or incorrect.

Encourage Sharing Through CTA's

Are your CTA's (your call-to-action buttons) encouraging your visitors to share your posts?

CTA's are key to getting more conversions, but they can also be used to encourage more sharing.

You should always include a CTA on every blog post you publish. You can't just expect people to share your content on their own; you sometimes have to give them a nudge in the right direction.

Include simple CTA's like "Share this post with your friends." You can also include those social sharing buttons we mentioned at the bottom of a post instead of at the top, as a way to further encourage sharing.

Include Images With Every Post

Are you including images in your blog posts, or are your customers having to skim through walls of text?

Breaking up long text blocks with images is a great way to increase the readability of your blog posts. And more readability usually means more sharing.

People love to share blog posts with interesting pictures (have you ever wondered by Buzzfeed articles get so many likes and shares?)

Images are also important for how your posts show up when the URL is pasted into Facebook or Twitter posts update boxes.

If you don't have any images included in your blog post, then the post preview (the image, headline, and summary that automatically show up when you paste a URL in a post update box) won't have anything to pull from.

Make It Quotable

How informative and helpful are your articles? That is to say, how easy do you make it for people to quote your content?

When you have really helpful content, your readers are more than willing to quote your content and share it on their social media accounts.

Make it easy for them to use a quote from your blog post as a caption by writing succinct, informative, and interesting content.

Getting your content shared by people can be a frustrating affair. Follow these tips, however, and see how it can improve your content's shareability.
