Social Media Best Practices

Social media is an essential aspect of marketing for businesses nowadays. There are many different things you can do to make the most out of your social media platforms. Check out our best practices for social media:

Pick your platform

When utilizing social media for your business, you don’t have to be on every social network. See what platforms work best for your industry and target audience. For example, a boutique would most likely have a higher audience reach on Instagram than a plumbing company. Research other businesses in your field and see what types of social media they have. Check out their posts and see what is and is not working for them.

Visualize your content

Include images in your posts! Posts with images get 94% more views than content without images. Visual content can help increase engagement with your audience and keep them interested in your business. Visual posts produce 650% higher engagement than text-only posts. This can change your marketing strategy drastically.

Be consistent

Each platform is different, but it’s a good practice to post at least once a day to Facebook and Instagram. Be sure to keep your content relevant to your target audience. They want to hear from you, so make your content engaging to them!

#Hashtags

Use hashtags sparingly and make sure they are relevant to the post and the platform. While hashtags are great for Instagram, they really shouldn’t be used on Facebook. Keep things simple. Hashtags are meant to make posts easier to find, so simple descriptions are best. Capitalize the first letter of each word for clarity. For example, this is #EasierToRead vs. #difficulttoread. Remember, don’t use spaces or punctuation in your hashtags.

Tag, You’re It

If referencing another business in your post, be sure to tag them. By tagging them, the post is shared to their audience, which gives it more reach. The tagged business may also share your post, furthering your reach even more. The more visibility your post has, the more engagement it will receive. The more engagement your post receives, the more Facebook will show it to other users. Tagging also adds value to readers by making the mentioned businesses easier to find.

Social media may seem overwhelming, but no worries! With these helpful tips, you’ll be using social media like a pro in no time.
