Your website is your customers online gateway to your company. These days, most people are going to Google your business and check out your website before they ever decide to buy from you. They want to know who you are and what you're about before they decide to spend their hard earned cash with you.
So, it makes sense that your website would need to be beautifully designed and full of helpful info to attract new and returning customers, right?
At Atwill Media, we believe having a professional website, and making it look attractive, are of the utmost importance. One of the key ways to attract customers to your website and keep them there is by having awesome photos on your site.
We've made it easy to add great photos to your website, through sliders, photo galleries, and single images. But are your images doing their job? Today, we've got a few great tips to help you select the best photos for your Atwill Media website.
There's a huge, enormous, gigantic difference in low-quality and high-quality images on the web. You need to make sure your images are large, and high resolution before you upload them to your website. When you upload low quality images, most people will think your business is low quality as well. Make sure you're uploading images that are at least 190 x 150 pixels big, and no more than a 32 MB file size.
Do the images on your website show your customers what you sell, or what services you offer? If someone visited your website with no prior knowledge of your business, would they be able to tell what you sell from your images alone? This is why it's important to have brand relevant images on your website. If you're a towing business, include images of your tow truck line or the outside of your business. If you're a bakery, show off pictures of your baked goods. Remember to always stay "on brand" with your images.
When's the last time you updated your product images, employee group photo, or picture of your storefront? Has it been more than a year? Two years? Ten years? Always make sure the images you upload to your website are current and up-to-date. This ensures that your customers are seeing the most accurate visualization of your products and services, therefore presenting your business as more trustworthy to hesitant customers.
Do you have a lot of text on your website but very little images? What about lots of images, but only a little bit of text? You need to make sure you have a balanced ratio of images-to-text on your website. But if you have to choose on or the other to have a higher ratio, go with images. Images are more attractive to customers than lines and lines of bland text.
Customers like to see images of real people enjoying your products or services, so be sure to include images that have people in them. You can use stock photos for this if you don't have any willing models to pose with your products, but be careful using common stock images found on the web. Customers might see a stock photo on your website that they've seen on some other companies website and think your company isn't genuine. They will call into question whether you're telling them the truth with your images.
