There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to web design. You can choose between different colors for your background and borders, different variations of a font type, whether to add more pictures or text to pages on your website, etc.
But one of the more important aspects of web design, aside from the beautiful colors and aesthetically pleasing font selections, are the photos that you choose to display throughout your website. Photos have the unique ability of saying much more than simple words could ever do, and they are regarded as a much more pleasing way of showing off your products and services than blocks of simple text.
Atwill Media gives you the choice of selecting pre-uploaded stock photos from your Image Library, or the ability to upload your own custom photos. We make it simple for our customers to have the freedom to choose whatever they feel is best for their custom-built website. It's all up to customer preference!
The question still remains, however: which is better, stock or custom images? We've got a few tips that can help you decide which type of image is best for your website.
Stock photos are obviously the easiest way to go about adding photos to your custom Atwill Media website. These photos are pre-loaded into your Image Library, and are available for you to use in a variety of ways.
These photos are added to your library to match lots of different industries, so no matter what your specialty is, we have a stock photo that you can use.
Even though stock photos come in handy in a number of situations, and Atwill Media provides you with a wide range of photos to use at your disposable, sometimes, it's better to use your own photos.
If you need a picture of your storefront, or a group photo of your employees, you can't really use stock photos in that situation, can you? (Obviously, you can do whatever you want with your website, but unless all of your employees have a side gig as stock photo models, it's really not going to be accurate to your company).
In these cases, it's better to use photos that either you took yourself, or that you hired a professional photographer to take for you. Professional photographers will provide you with the best photos of your products, building, services, employees, etc. but they can be costly, and out of your price range. If you know your way around a DSLR camera, or even if you have a smartphone with a great camera, you can save some money and take the photos yourself.
If you're going to use your own custom images on your Atwill Media website, be sure that they meet our minimum requirements before you upload them. Photos that are low resolution or too small will show up blurry and pixelated on your website. Always be sure to upload high-quality photos to your custom Atwill Media website!
As you can see, there are pros and cons to both stock photos and custom photos. The trick is to find which one works best for your business and your needs. Explore a little bit with each type of photo, and see what works best for your website!
